The Parklets Campaign
Turning grey space green...
About
We are a group of volunteers who want to help people in their communities to turn grey space green. In particular, we are campaigning for new 'parklets' to be installed - converting parking spaces into community spaces with seating, plants which are open to everyone.
We organised the first 'Parklet Day' in 2021, with 20 pop up parklets across London,
and now we are aiming to go nationwide in 2022!

Our Movement
Community
"This brought together people living in the street who did not know each other before."
Local Hackney Resident
Families
“We want a place for families to be allowed to eat together when they come to our soup kitchen. Having a parklet outside our café would be invaluable for creating a community identity and a great green garden addition to the street of Hoxton.”
Robert and Bea, Managing Team
Humdingers in Hoxton
Advocacy
“We fully support the use of kerbside space on streets for community use along with car parking. Allowing people to create parklets will empower communities, build social alliances and enable people to invest in the streets they live in, with a marginal impact on number of car parking spaces."

Pop Up Parklets Day 2021
We organised the first ever Pop Up Parklet Day in September 2021.
We had 20 pop-up parklets created across London and one in Dublin.
This is a map of all the parklets created: https://maphub.net/netwench/people-parking
Our Story
We are all volunteers who give our time to help Londoners set up parklets in their communities.
Our founder, Brenda Puech first set up a small parklet outside her home in 2017. It got a fantastic reaction from her friends and neighbours, but sadly Hackney Council dismantled it. You can watch more in this film by Channel Five.
In response, she brought together the London Parklet Campaign to campaign for change across London. We want to make it as easy to create a parklet on residential streets as it is to apply for a parking permit.
We’re working with other partners such as Living Streets and IBikeLondon to spread the word. If you want to get invoked, drop us a line and one of our team will be in touch!
